Collaboration: Issue One/February 2021

Newsletter of the Coach Quad Chamber of Commerce

In established the Coach Quad, the founders identified some of the initial benefits that would be available to individuals or organizations that wish to become members. These benefits range from expanded marketing region to links with other coaching organizations.  Benefits were also identified that would be derived by those who would visit the Quad. We offer a listing of both sets of benefits in this the first newsletter to be issued by the Quad’s Chamber of Commerce.

Benefits for Quad Members

Most importantly, the Quad provides an opportunity for its members to expand the catchment area for their coaching-related enterprise. People coming to the quad through another organization will see the member’s organization and remember it for future reference or even immediately. The following analogy seems appropriate. We go to the Mall in order to buy shoes—but notice when going to the shoe store that there is a gourmet grocery store and a sporting supply store located at the Mall which we might want to visit in the near future.

Secondly, membership provides an opportunity to gain greater visibility by shared marketing of the Quad with other Quad organizations. We all use the Quad to draw people to our organization and then on to the Quad. We return to the analogy. The sale at the local shoe store will bring customers to the Mall and they will, in turn, become acquainted with my own gourmet grocer story. The marketing of other organizations on the Quad benefits my own organization.

Third, the quad offers a wide variety of vetted coach-related resources. Visitors to the Quad will know that any organization represented on the Quad will be offering high quality products and services that are directly relevant to the field of professional coaching (with the Quad’s Chamber of Commerce providing quality control).

Fourth, the Quad provides an opportunity for members to collaborate with other coach-related organizations on new joint projects—often “pilot tested” with special events/services/products offered on the Quad. Once again, the Mall analogy fits. Through the Mall association, free (or paid) concerts are offered that draw people to the businesses located at the Mall. Similar events can be planned by the Quad’s Chamber of Commerce.

Fifth, the Quad can provide members with an opportunity to gain a clear sense of what is happening in the coaching profession by interacting with (or at least occasionally visiting) the other organizations on the quad.

Finally, Quad members can avail themselves of the opportunity to exhibit tangible commitment to the future welfare of the field of professional coaching. This broader commitment to stewardship of the field is displayed  in the posting of the Quad’s logo on the member’s own website, promotional materials, etc.
