Collaboration: Issue One/February 2021
Sixth, the Quad provides some “quiet instruction” regarding the coaching resources that should be considered for someone entering the field of professional coaching for the first time. We envision new coaches declaring: “Wow, I didn’t know that I might need all of this stuff to get going in the profession of coaching.” Some of the most valuable resources on the Quad will be the various documents and services related to what is often called “practice management.“ These resources would focus on such practical matters as marketing, branding, financial structures, legal issues, and potential client populations. We believe that frequent visits to the Coach Quad will be of great value to all newly minted professional coaches. Those conducting coach training programs would benefit from pointing their trainees to the Quad.
Seventh, there can be a place either on the edge of the Coach Quad or in the center of the Quad where senior coaches do some “mentoring” of younger coaches. There can be a matching service that might be one of the services overseen by those serving on the Quad’s Chamber of Commerce.
Finally, the Quad can work on behalf of those who provide coaching services “for the greater good”. This could mean helping to coordinate efforts to raise funds that support scholarships for young coaches who are receiving training and obtaining certification so that they might serve communities around the world that are currently under-served while facing major challenges.
As will be noted, the Coach Quad has been established to meet a wide variety and expanding set of coaching challenges. These challenges are not easily met. No one person can make the critical difference—but multiple people working together can make the difference. That is why this newsletter of the Coach Quad is called COLLABORATION.
